Debra DeShong Reed, Principal.

Think your job is tough? When Sen. Robert Torricelli (D-NJ) was under federal and Senate investigation regarding campaign finance laws, Debra was his communications director. Still think your job is tough?

Debra is a veteran communicator with experience in the private sector, on Capitol Hill, in state and national campaigns. Her skills in communications, strategic planning and crisis management helped her handle such tough assignments as:

  • Senior communications adviser for the Kerry/Edwards campaign (2004)
  • Communications director for the Democratic National Committee (2003-2004), where she implemented the first network-sponsored, DNC-sanctioned primary debates, including the first English-Spanish bilingual debate
  • Press secretary to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD)
  • Campaign press secretary to U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR)
  • News executive and on-air reporter at WBTW-TV (1994-1996) in Myrtle Beach, SC

Most recently, Debra was director of communications and public affairs for the United Nations Foundations.

Debra is a graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut and has a Masters degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
